Alpha-Lipoic Acid (Thioctic Acid) is an important enzyme cofactor in the Krebs cycle and is involved in all dehydrogenases in the human body. Alpha-Lipoic acid is active both in the aqueous (cytoplasm) and lipid phase (membrane) of cells.
Myo-inositol is a carbocyclic polyol that can be found in different types of food, in particular in cereals, nuts and fruit, especially melons and oranges. Inositoles, which myo-inositol is a part of, play a biological role as second cellular messengers, i.e. molecules that can determine cellular response to stimuli from the external membrane that arrive through other substances, such as insulin.
Folic Acid is a water-soluble B vitamin. Folic Acid plays an essential role in normal amino acid synthesis, in the normal metabolism of homocysteine and in the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy.
Betaine is a natural substance extracted from sugar beet. It is a molecule that can donate methyl groups which are necessary for the conversion of homocysteine into methionine.
Vitamin B2 contributes to healthy skin, cell protection against oxidative stress and normal energy metabolism; Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine, to normal protein and glycogen metabolism, to normal energy metabolism and to hormone balance; Vitamin B12 also contributes to normal energy metabolism and to the normal metabolism of homocysteine, in addition to the cell division process.
